Getting ready for the lunar eclipse!

I also checked out a 200mm lens so I'm excited to take some pictures of the lunar eclipse tonight. Right now I am charging my camera and the camera I checked out in preparation for tonight! I tried doing some star trail pictures before but the brightness of the moon is making it hard to get a long enough exposure without overexposing the image. I will probably try that later on this week when the moon isn't full.

My Grandma

I checked out a fixed lens over break (85mm with f/1.4) and I love the shallow depth of field I can get with this lens.

Ice

I found this in a cup in my car. The water had frozen overnight with the straw stuck in it and I thought it looked really cool.

This is what the cold does to cars

Can you guess which one froze!?

Went snowboarding earlier today and here's a video of me on a box rail. This was only my second time in a terrain park and the first time i actually built up enough courage to go off one! I'll be a pro in no time ;)

Playing around on my ipad :)

I tried doing a digital ipad version of a double exposure. Here are my 2 best results.

Attack of the birds

I was driving down Jefferson Rd. in Rochester NY when I saw what must have been hundreds of birds flying and lined up on the electrical wires.

"Open Door Mission Crisis Center" Rochester NY

Today I did some volunteer work in downtown rochester with RIT. We painted the walls of this samaritan house on west main street.

"The Open Door Mission, Inc. of Rochester, New York is a not-for-profit ministry, founded in prayer, to meet the spiritual and physical needs of the last, the least, and the lost of our community prompted through the love of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and is supported by the continuing prayer and contributions of others."

The first picture is where they provide emergency housing for men living on the streets of rochester. The place was empty when I shot this because they do not open the doors untill 4pm. When we left at 2pm there were already men lining up outside.

The second photograph is of Dave Coachman who is the facilities manager at Open Door Mission. He was kind enough to allow me to photograph him while we were on lunch break.

Snow in Rochester

As we were going to the library for Photo Class we decided to stop and play in the snow for a little bit. As you can see I had to dodge a couple snowballs, or should I say ice balls!
